Mitchelville Place | Hilton Head, South Carolina | September 20, 2025
Some wedding days feel like they were made for the Lowcountry: sunlight streaming through moss-draped oak branches, soft blue hues dancing in the breeze, and florals that move as naturally as the coastal air. Quinn and Danny’s wedding at Mitchelville Place was one of those days: classic Southern charm, reimagined with modern textures and fresh, airy design.
Working exclusively on florals for their celebration, our goal was to bring Quinn’s Pinterest board dream into something tangible, flowing, and unforgettable. This was a palette we loved from the very beginning: timeless colors with artistic details that made every arrangement feel intentional and personal.
A Classic Palette with a Modern Twist
Quinn envisioned a palette that felt classic yet fresh: whites, creams, and soft blues layered with airy, modern textures. Since our role focused solely on florals for the day, we centered our energy on high-impact design moments that would elevate both the ceremony and reception spaces.
Here are the florals we curated to bring her vision to life:
- Blue & white hydrangea
- White ranunculus
- White garden roses
- White stock
- Blue delphinium
- White orchids
- Lime green hanging amaranthus
- Bells of Ireland
- Touches of larkspur & snapdragon
Many of these blooms share one thing in common: unique, sculptural textures. Orchids, amaranthus, and Bells of Ireland especially brought a dimensional, modern feel to the arrangements. By anchoring everything in a timeless blue-and-white palette, we were able to introduce bolder, more contemporary floral choices in a way that still felt effortless and romantic. Once we finalized the recipe, our team was so excited to work with these ingredients and create something truly reflective of Quinn’s vision.
The Bridal Bouquet
For her bouquet, Quinn dreamed of something classic but with a soft asymmetric twist. To achieve that, we designed around gentle structural lines and modern trailing elements — orchids and amaranthus cascading in a waterfall effect that felt organic, artsy, and undeniably her.
Her bridesmaids carried petite versions of the palette, perfectly complementing their flowing blue gowns and the surrounding Lowcountry scenery.
One unique challenge of the bouquet was incorporating the orchids in a way that preserved their shape and hydration. To accomplish this, we actually built the entire bouquet first and then added the orchids individually. Each stem was placed into a water pod and tucked in upside down, with all mechanics concealed. This approach allowed the orchids to trail naturally without dehydrating — unlike the hanging amaranthus, which naturally cascades on its own.
We absolutely loved how the bouquet turned out, and we weren’t surprised when Quinn later sent the sweetest message:
“You did an absolutely beautiful job!”
(And yes — her bridal bouquet is proudly front and center in her Instagram profile photo!)
Her bridesmaids’ bouquets echoed the same palette and movement, completing the wedding party look beautifully.
A Ceremony Framed by Baby’s Breath Clouds
One of our favorite visual moments from the day was the ceremony aisle. We created twelve baby’s breath cloud arrangements to line the aisle! .
We’ll be honest: baby’s breath has not always been our favorite bloom. But when used in abundance and shaped intentionally, it becomes incredibly luxe and modern. For this ceremony, it created the dreamiest, cloud-like pathway leading straight to Quinn and Danny’s vows.
Against the pale blue dresses and the marsh-side backdrop, these clouds transformed the ceremony space, settling in so seamlessly they looked as though they’d been growing there all along.
Repurposing Florals With Intention
One of the ways we love to serve our couples is by ensuring every floral moment has more than one opportunity to shine. Quinn and Danny’s wedding was the perfect example of thoughtful floral reuse.
Here’s how the blooms carried through the day:
- The 12 baby’s breath aisle clouds were reimagined into a cascading staircase installation, creating the backdrop for the couple’s first dance.
- Quinn’s Bouquet became a refined cake-table arrangement that added texture and softness to the dessert display.
- Bridesmaids’ Bouquets were styled for key reception moments, adding to the floral impact.
This approach not only enhances the design; it allows couples to best utilize their florals and enjoy them in multiple spaces and moments throughout the night.
Reception Under the Oaks
Mitchelville Place is a true Lowcountry gem, and the reception space made that abundantly clear. The sweeping oak trees, dappled sunlight, and soft blue linens created the perfect setting for florals to breathe and shine.
For the reception, we designed:
- Petite centerpieces with hydrangea, ranunculus, garden roses, stock, and Bells of Ireland
- A medium-sized bar arrangement full of height and movement
- A lush sweetheart-table garden installation, layered and full
The white-and-blue palette tied beautifully into the natural surroundings, creating a reception that felt both elevated and warmly Southern.
Behind the Scenes: A Lesson From the Lowcountry Heat
Like many coastal weddings, this day came with its own floral challenges. One of the hydrangea-heavy arrangements, originally intended for indoors, was unexpectedly moved outside. And in the Southern heat, hydrangeas can be sensitive as they require hydration, shade, and attentive care.
Whitney jumped in right away, refreshing stems and coaxing moisture back into the blooms to keep everything looking its best. Situations like this remind us why strategic placement matters, especially with delicate florals. When time allows, placing hydrangea arrangements on-site as late as possible is the most gentle, bloom-friendly approach.
A Southern Wedding with a Modern Heart
From the parasols to the trailing orchids, Quinn and Danny’s wedding felt like a love letter to the Lowcountry: classic, refined, and filled with thoughtful modern details.
We were honored to bring Quinn’s floral dreams to life and to play a small part in a day that was so clearly full of love.
